One of my favorite vintage knitwear brands is Amano, these colorful and beautifully made pieces will last a lifetime and their vintage collection is proof of that!
Since 1988 Amano is working closely with incredible artisans in Ecuador to provide ethically sourced, handcrafted, and fair-trade sweaters and knitwear. 'A mano' means 'by hand' in Spanish.

A little background: The founders, James and Michelle, first travelled to South America in 1988. After teaching English in Brazil, they both decided to explore Bolivia, Peru, and Ecuador and were blown away by the knitwear they saw locals knitting by hand.
James and Michelle went home with as many hand-knit sweaters as they could fit in their backpacks and began selling them at the Christmas market at St-Martin-In-The-Fields. People loved them! With some help they commissioned knitters to make more jumpers.
Then James met Yumiko, a Japanese artist who lived in Bolivia and Yumiko quickly became the creative force behind Amano and launched several of our best-selling designs. Find more information on their website: About Amano.
